You can still take advantage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), called Obamacare, by signing up by Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Your coverage would begin March 1.
Information and help is still available on line at HealthCare.gov.
President Donald Trump, intent on dismantling the program, has signed an executive order scaling back many aspects of the health law and shutting down consumer outreach efforts in the closing days of the enrollment period. However, according to the HealthCare.gov website there are four places in Seminole County where you might find personalized help Monday and Tuesday from “Assisters” who know the program:
Community Health Interventions, 2690 S. Orlando Drive, Sanford, 407 878 0811;
Central Florida Family Health Center, Inc., 2400 S.R. 415, Sanford, 407 322 8645;
Central Florida Regional Hospital, 1401 West Seminole Blvd., Sanford;
Community United Outreach, 115 Maitland Ave., Altamonte Springs, 407 966 3400.
You can also sign up directly at www.healthcare.gov.
No one knows for sure what will happen in the future with the healthcare program, but experts are quoted as saying coverage for 2017 is secure.
