Chardo RichardsonThe American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has been playing a lead role in legal challenges to

President Trump’s immigration policy, winning a nationwide court stay on portions of his order.

The president of the ACLU of Central Florida, Chardo Richardson, will be the guest speaker at

the next general membership meeting of the SemDems, 7pm, Thursday, February 9th at the

Lake Mary Community Center, 140 E. Wilbur Ave., Lake Mary.

Richardson became president of the local chapter in January 2016, and considers himself “just

a simple man with a big dream for us.” And that big dream is living in a just society that

acknowledges the dignity, respect, and equality of each individual regardless of gender, race,

class, sexual orientation, origin of birth, and ability.

Richardson brings many years of service and experience to his position. He served in the US

Army for nearly 12 years, resigning to start law school in 2012. He has been very active in the

Central Florida community. The Focus magazine in July 2015 captures his underlying belief that

“fundamental [to] the freedoms we enjoy is the requirement that they protect all US citizens.”

He has worked tirelessly to achieve this.

In official business, several new Precinct Captains are set to stand for election.
