The Mystery of the Puerto Rican Voter
By far the fastest growing segment of the electorate in Central Florida is Puerto Rican. As United States citizens (unlike, for example, Cubans), Puerto Ricans have an automatic right to vote upon residing in Florida. On the island, political events are huge social gatherings, and elections have enormous turnouts. But somehow on settling in as just one component of society here in Central Florida, the enthusiasm of Puerto Rican voters takes a big hit.
